WORLD WATER SUMMIT, June 12th, 2008
A lot has happened since our last WASRAG Bulletin – and all of it exciting!
We’re delighted to tell you that the first World Water Summit, held in Los Angeles prior to the RI Convention, was an outstanding success! Just over 200 Rotarians and their spouses, partners, etc. attended and gave a glowing endorsement to the content and the message – SUSTAINABILITY!
This was an ambitious effort on WASRAG’s part and we learned a lot from this year’s experience. These “lessons learned” will be put to good use at next year’s Summit in Birmingham. (Mark your calendars now! It will be held on Friday June 19th , 2009.)
Many of you have asked for copies of the presentations that were used at the conference. We are still assembling them for you, but some are available now, as follows:
Another surprise for the WASRAG Team was the reception held at the Wilshire Grand Hotel on the evening of Wednesday June 11th. Planned as a very informal get-together for members who arrived in LA early on the Wednesday, we had anticipated maybe 50 people at most. The final number was probably closer to 80 – but we lost count! Again – a useful lesson learned!
Thanks again to everyone who took part – and all those whose hard work made the day possible.
Yours in Rotary,
Ron Denham, etc.
